Graduate Diploma ECE, Full Registration.

Welcome to Lakeview Private Kindergarten. We hope you enjoy your time with us here. I look forward to getting to know your children and family and delivering a quality education and care service to you all, with a happy and fun atmosphere. My husband Adrian and I have 3 children, Lachie aged 12 and Sasha, aged 7 and Chloe, 5 years. As a family we place a high value on the importance of family and friends and having quality time together. We spend a lot of time outdoors, doing activities as a family, plus are keen sailors.

My education background is in primary schools and in 2010 retrained in Early Childhood Education. In between I spent 15 years in the corporate world, specialising in Human Resources, recruitment, adult training and development. I have now beenable to combine my two passions, education and management into one venture in order to be able to own and manage my own childcare centre.

Kia Ora! Welcome to Lakeview Private Kindergarten.

Originally from Pakuranga, I made the move to the North Shore in 1999 after completing my  ECE

degree at Auckland University. Children are my absolute passion and over the last 20 years I have had the pleasure of working as a Nanny and in various teaching and management roles in the Early Childhood sector.

I am married and am a Mum to two extremely active boys, born in 2005 and 2010.

We live on the beautiful Hibiscus Coast and as a family our lives are very much centred around the outdoors and the beaches surrounding us.

I joined the Lakeview team in 2006. I adore working in partnership with our fabulous families and sharing in each child's special learning journey.

Kia Ora.From a very young age I always knew that I wanted to teach. I have taught since 2001 in a number of centres similar to Lakeview with children aged two years of age until school age. Teaching for me is inspiring -  each day brings something new. It is rewarding to watch a child, each with their own ability and interests, and their family grow and develop. I am passionate about being an active part of the child's learning journey. I believe family and the community are an important part of the child's learning. I believe all children work best in a socio-cultural environment that is meaningful and empowers them to be the best that they can be. I want to encourage each child to be confident, competent and capable because with these skills they can conquer the world! My life outside of Kindy revolves around my family. I enjoy travelling around NZ and Australia with my partner.

Moira Sugrue - Professional Development Leader

Bachelor of Teaching- ECE, Full Registration

I have working in early childhood for 12 years and Lakeview since 2011. I have experience with all age groups and have worked in early childhood both in New Zealand and Australia.

I have always enjoyed been part of learning for young children. I believe my role as a teacher is to encourage children to become thinkers, problem solvers but also have fun just being a child.  Early childhood allows children to gain skills before primary school and also sets the pathway for life long learning  as an individual and a collect group, where I support this through provocation, quality interactions and adding humor in to the mix.

In my personal time I enjoy spending time with my family and friends and also enjoy keeping up with the latest sport.

Carol Greaney - Teacher

Diploma of Teaching ECE, Bachelor of Teaching, Full Registration

I have been an early childhood teacher for many years, firstly with my own three children doing voluntary help in public kindergarten, then working at a toddler centre for nearly five years.  I joined Lakeview in October.  I love working with children and understand that each child is unique and their learning styles are different.  I see ECE as the foundation for all learning to follow.  I find my job very rewarding watching the children develop and grow ready for school and seeing families returning with subsequent siblings.

I am married, with 3 adult children and have lived on the Shore all my life I enjoy watching sport, walking my dogs on the beach and bushwalking as well as spending time with my family.

Talofa Lava, I am privileged to be one of the very talented teachers at Lakeview Kindergarten. Before teaching at Lakeview I spent 3 years teaching in a nursery environment with children from 3 months to 18 months. Teaching is a strong passion of mine and although I am relatively new to teaching, I have always loved children and have enjoyed caring for my own two daughters.

I love the diversity of teaching and learning alongside your children. I believe we all have different qualities and I really appreciate the mixture of teachers I work with, and the ability we have to learn together and from each other.

I live with my husband (Andrew), our daughters (Ava born in 2008 and Sophie born in 2010) and our dog (Marco), we are a busy family who enjoy trying new things and getting out in our community.

In my spare time I enjoy volunteering at school and helping out with the extra curricular activities that my girls do. Life is short and I love the work life balance I have that enables me to be so involved in my daughters lives.

I love to spend time with my family and really enjoy quality time, we enjoy the outdoors and exploring the beautiful country we live in. I come from a large Samoan family, and I truly believe it takes a village to raise a child and I feel very honoured to be part of the village and work with your family.

Sara Lee - Teacher

Diploma of Teaching ECE, Provisional Registration

Originally from Korea I moved to New Zealand with my family when I was nine, and have been living on the Shore since. After graduating with a degree in Economics and Politics I decided to work as a reliever in childcare centres because I always loved children’s company. I found great pleasure and passion for children and their learning and have recently completed my Graduate Diploma in Teaching. During my study I was a student teacher at Lakeview, so I am very excited to join the wonderful team. What I love about being a teacher is learning alongside children everyday making new discoveries, and believe that children communicate and express themselves through hundred languages. In my spare time I enjoy travelling with family and friends around New Zealand and the world.

Jinny Kim - Teacher

Bachelor of Teaching (ECE), Provisional Registration

Hello! My name is Jinny, and I'm from Korea. I came to New Zealand in 2007, starting school in Milford.

Ever since I was young I wanted to be a teacher. Every time I played with my friends I was always the teacher. My younger sister was born with disabilities. She couldn't (and still can't) grow both mentally and physically, and no matter how old she is, she will look like a preschooler for the rest of her life. This sparked my passion and love for early childhood education.

My teaching interests and strengths include music, art and craft. I strongly believe in the importance of music in children's early life and I'm glad that I am able to share my enthusiasm in music with children here at Lakeview. I especially love playing piano and ukulele, and playing instruments with children or having a jam session with them. While I was attending high school I was one of the Head of Music Department and taking the leadership role in many music groups, such as Choir, Barbershop, Jazz band and liturgy band.

Before joining Lakeview Private Kindergarten, I worked at a cooperative childcare centre in Parnell. I am very excited and privileged to join the awesome team at Lakeview Private Kindergarten, and can't wait to share many exciting learning journeys with everyone!

Catherine Hamlin - Phonics Teacher

Diploma Primary, Full Registration

I have been here at Lakeview since 2003 and teach the phonics, reading and writing programme to the 4 year olds. I love what I do and get enormous pleasure out of seeing the children go off to school with confidence and a bit of a head-start.

I’ve had many years teaching experience in schools, but I prefer the fun of small groups here at Lakeview.

On a personal note, I have two adult daughters who I raised on my own after my husband passed away suddenly, when they were young.

I think Lakeview Kindergarten is a great early childhood centre where the children are challenged and the standards are high for behaviour and education.
